While in Nice, students will live with typical French families and attend classes allowing them to participate and be submerged in the culture and language.

The Loire Valley & The Cote D'azur

The Loire Valley contains many historic towns such as Amboise, Saumur, Blois, Orléans, and Tours. Located in the middle stretch of the Loire River in central France, it’s famous for its natural beauty, great wine and majestic castles like the Châteaux de Chambord and the Château de Chenonceau as well as many others. The region has a very rich history and culture: Renaissance writer Rabelais was born here; Joan of Arc led French troops to victory in the Hundred Years’ War in the Loire; and, as the Cradle of the French Language, its residents are said to speak the purest French.

A visit to the cities, towns and villages of the Loire Valley is like taking a journey back in time as they retain much of the charm, character and authenticity that has attracted royal patronage over the centuries. In 2000, UNESCO added the central part of the Loire River valley to its list of World Heritage Sites, and with very good reason – the châteaux, and the villages and vineyards that surround them, attest to over a thousand years of rich architectural, artistic and agrarian creativity.

The Côte d’Azur, commonly known as the French Riviera, is the Mediterranean coastline of southeastern France, also including the independent state of Monaco. This stretch of pebbly shorelines, glamorous yachts and charming towns has always captivated sun lovers and socialites. With seemingly endless sunny beaches, its mild Mediterranean climate and picturesque surroundings, the natural beauty of the French Riviera has attracted not only those in search of relaxation, but also those seeking inspiration. Many of the world’s most famous artists, composers and and intellectuals such as Picasso, Chagall, Niki de Saint Phalle, Klein, Arman, Rossini and Nietzsche, once called this place home. Much of their work is commemorated in the more than 200 museums and galleries in the area, keeping the artistic ambiance alive. Today’s admirers know not to miss 3 of the Côte d’Azur’s textbook points of interest: Nice, with its relaxed, care- free lifestyle; Antibes, the town made famous by Picasso; and Monaco, home of the world-famous Monte Carlo casino.

A Beautiful Setting

Highlights of what you’ll experience on your 12-day trip to France

Paris is France’s capital and most populous city. It’s an international center for fashion, art, food and culture. Situated on the river Seine, its enchanting 19th-century cityscape is interwoven by broad boulevards. Famous landmarks include the Eiffel Tower, the Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral and the Arc de Triomphe. The city is well known for its cafe culture, and designer boutiques along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

The Palace of Versailles is the former French royal residence and center of government located 16 km southwest of Paris. Now a national landmark, it was the seat of political power in the Kingdom of France from 1682, when King Louis XIV moved the royal court from Paris, until 1789, at the beginning of the French Revolution.

Monaco is an independent city state on France’s coastline located between the foot of the Southern Alps and the Mediterranean, less than an hour’s drive from Nice. Known for its glitzy casinos, yacht-lined harbor and famed Grand Prix motor race, it’s only 2 square kilometers in size making it the second smallest sovereign nation in the world.
