Cadiz and Barcelona

Cadiz is an ancient port city in southwest Spain situated on a narrow peninsula surrounded by the sea. Founded as Gadir by Phoenicians from Tyre more than 3,000 years ago, it’s the oldest continuously inhabited city in Western Europe. Today it’s a typical Andalusian city full of picturesque vistas, winding alleys connecting charming plazas, and well-preserved historical landmarks. A former 16th-century centre for trade and exploration, it has over 100 watchtowers, including the iconic Torre Tavira, traditionally used for spotting ships. Love-struck visitors speak fondly of Cadiz’ seafood, beaches and collection of fascinating monuments and museums.

Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and Spain’s second largest city. Located on Spain’s northeastern Mediterranean coast, it has a very rich history and the city’s architectural treasures span more than 2000 years. High columns and ancient city walls provide a window into the Roman era of the city, while taking a stroll through the Gothic quarter, past tranquil plazas and soaring 14th-century cathedrals transports you to the Middle Ages. Barcelona has long inspired artists like Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró, whose works are on display in the city’s myriad of museums.
